Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans offered condolences for the star in the following the terrible crash.
