Trump's Organization Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Workers on Work Permits in 2025

Donald Trump’s family business accelerated its recruitment of overseas employees on temporary visas this period, while his government was creating barriers for other businesses wanting to do the same, an analysis published recently stated.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization sought to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in the coming year for short-term roles at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of applications for H-2A and H-2B visas covering workers including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the record submitted by the organization, and up from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had attempted to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his government that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

In total, the business aimed to employ over 560 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during the upcoming year.

Notably, Trump was questioned by some in the GOP this period for comments defending the necessity for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy particular roles.

“You cannot just say a country is entering, going to spend $10bn to construct a facility, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It isn’t feasible that well,” he stated to a host after she suggested that overseas employees lower the pay of American employees.

The administration refused a inquiry for response, and the business did not provide an answer to an request for information.
