Suspected Stalker Inquired: 'But What If I Am Madeleine?'
A woman accused with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a recorded message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who a jury heard has consistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the court was told call records and data obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout the past two years.
Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and remains open.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
Another voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I know I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I know what I know."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "What if there is a small chance that I am she? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"
"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I only wish to know," the recording stated.
The panel was advised that by means of electronic messages, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.
Robert Jones, a data specialist with law enforcement who compiled the information, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with close associates of the McCanns, according to the phone records.
On that date, Gerry McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."
That day Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail stating "I won't give up and I plan to establish my claim."
The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a relationship online with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a visit to the McCanns' property in the county in that winter.
Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be taken seriously in the time preceding the appearance to that location, the county, in December 2024.
The court was told message exchanges between the two defendants, in November 2024, considering attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from silverware at a restaurant.
"We must assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.
