Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
